  • Smoke detectors should be located in all bedrooms and near kitchens and garages.
  • Several carbon monoxide detectors should also be installed.
  • General purpose fire extinguishers should be installed on each floor and near the kitchen and garage.
  • Each family member should know how to exit the residence in the shortest possible time in case of fire.  Doors and windows secured with steel bars should be easily opened from inside.
  • Emergency numbers should be maintained near the principal phone in the residence.
